Technical Oil Drain Valve on a 0.9 TA 4x4

...and thought it might make oil changes easier (stick a tube on the end at oil change time), as the existing sump guard/bash plate is a pain to remove to get to the sump plug. Not worried about it getting bashed as the sump guard stops that (I generally drive rough roads, not off road).

Thoughts?

Having had branches, mud, wood and stones all jammed up in the sump guards, I’d be more concerned with the valve dumping all the oil on the move

Utterly agree on all counts. I wait until we go shopping. Lidl's and Morrison's carparks are level, so before driving off after shopping, I check the oil. Trying it at home is pointless due to the slope on the drive. As for the colour of the dipstick, nothing has ever been designed so...

Pretty sure that you can remove the sump plug without removing the bash plate.

You can, not with the ‘Fiat special tool’ but I put a hex bit into a ratchet spanner for ease

Here's the sump on my Panda TA 4x4 2023.

I bought a 14mm ring spanner plus a I've a 14mm socket too.

There's a video on YouTube of the Fiat garage (down south somewhere) DIY guys changing the oil on a Panda 4x4 and the guy uses a ring spanner in the video.

I can't edit the above guys, it was a 17mm spanner and socket I bought not 14mm.

Probably was/is if you click that link and go to the sump plug there's loads of different plugs and washers for sale.
