hi there, im doing my friends a favour by doing an oil change for them, im fairly compitent with cars (VW's mainly, sorry! lol).

i was just thinking i would get a heads up on what to look ou for as i have never worked on a fiat, like where the oil filter is located, or wil this stick out like a sore thumb once the bonnet is open??

any help would be much appreciated!

kind regards
Rich:)

After a bit of a look around, the Fiorino has been in production in varying models and revisions since 1977, the oil filter should be fairly easy to spot as they are generally similar looking (my Punto has it's towards the front of the engine bay).

I can't find many engine bay pictures so it's hard to tell on those ground's I'm afraid! The year the van was registered may help anyone with more knowledge in helping you out :)

Welcome btw :D

oops, sorry, my bad!! it's a 1.7 diesel

thanks for the help (y)

Rich

**edit: its a 1993 if that also helps**

if its onthe front of the block shold be easy nough, just like my golf (sorry for swearing lol)

If you look at the dipstick, and follow it down to the bottom, the oil filter is located there. Its mounted horizontally and there's plenty of room to get it out. Other than that its just a straight forward filter change, no special precautions.

Hope that helps,
Alan

It used to be a very large oilfilter, ( there's plenty of room for it!) but some years ago, Fiat, and all the other suppliers (Fram & co) went to a rather small oilfilter.
I like the larger one (holds more oil!).
Remember that the oil in the 1,7 D, together with the oilfilter needs to be changed every 5000ml (7500km).
Use a good quality 10W40 oil.
