Right, I'm considering fitting one after seeing the state of my throttle body. Well, when I say "seeing", I haven't yet opened it up yet but from looking into the open end of it there was a noticeable amount of the kind of gunk a catch tank could prevent. Think it could well be a contributing factor to the revving issue I've got the now as well as a slightly uneven idle.

Anyway, been looking into this and wondering what the best way of hooking it up is. Easiest seems to be pipe from crank case to tank then pipe from tank to induction but it has been said that this still means some of the gunk will get back into the induction/inlet. Some apparently just vent it to atmosphere even if this is technically(?) illegal.

Had thought about how else I could set it up without having a pipe feed back into the induction/inlet - maybe some sort of breather filter attached somewhere perhaps though I'm guessing as reading up on the different opinions and technical points had me going a bit cross-eyed at points

It just be a pipe from the cam cover to the catch tank, then a pipe from the catch tank to the induction.

It also means another thing to empty when it comes to oil change :p .

Yeah, wouldn't be fussed by the emptying of it. Just wanting to make it less likely for this tb issue to appear in the future (well, for the next owner probably :laugh :) and I've heard it can help the running of the engine anyway though perhaps not as beneficial as I've heard it can be on a forced induction car. Plus of course, it'll look nice under the bonnet :)

I'm probably over-thinking the whole thing (down to the rather lengthy discussions I've seen on other forums) and I know it's not a necessary mod or anything but just wondered if it's worthwhile and if there was a best way of having it set up :)

The cinq is vented to atmosphere. Technically an mot fail point but not seen any fails from it :)

I think it's a grey area and can depend on who tests the car. If they're really picky, may be an issue. Just wondering if it HAS to be recirculated in the system or if at the very least you can maybe just use a breather filter coming off the catch can. I know some people don't even use a can and just have a filter coming off the crank case.
