Well today will be better i thought.....took off the exhaust manifold..pulled out the coolent tube that goes into the back of the pump...banged in the core plug..First mistake..(not as straight as i would like!!!)
Loads of gasket goo around the coolent tube...went to tighten the small bolt which holds the tube to the engine to stop it moving around..and then..DINK..it snaps the head off!!!!!..Leaving the thread inside!!...(see pic)..now i have no way of attaching it...what a crap design, only one small mounting point.
So thought i would start it anyway....ran great!!!..No leaks!!!...ran it for 30-40mins...fan cutting in and out...(y)

Put on front and rear bars..(see pic)...All finished i thought..

Got some great old school off road/winter double chunky 4x4 tyres to go on and im off and running!!!...:D

Check oil...and yep you guessed it...MAYO!!!!...so yesterdays prob has fecked the head!!!..:bang:
So bring your chips around to mine...got lots of mayo to dip them in!!!!

Hang on. I thought yesterdays problem was a fuel problem and then the core plug. Hows that linked to HG

Dip the dipstick and see what oil is like there. I had a slightly mayo oil filer cap on the Selecta and started to panic, only to be told it could have just been condensation from where it had been sitting for a while.

Jon.

The top of the dip stick has mayo on it...i'm just guessing if the engine was hot enough to burst the core plug then it could have done the HG.
Plus there was no sign of mayo yesterday after running it for some time..

mine has mayo. yet it aint a problem.

My dad says all his older cars had it, and since a panda is low spec and old engine design, that its not a prob.

Just see how it goes tho, i drove the car around for 1000 miles now on what we expected a blown head gasket but it comes and goes and is not a problem. a small amount is okay i spose

is that what ur talkin bout, if not disregard this stupid post :|

Think it will be a prob for me...don't look good...as for the engine design it is top slot!!!...(y)...very good tolerances as was made by robots!!...plus all my other pandas don't like mayo..nice clean oil..:D

Drill it out and retap it, is the only way (other than ignoring it).

As for the head gasket, it could be moisture from when its sat, fill it up and run it for bit before you fear the worst (although it probably is) but head gaskets are pretty easy.

Drill and tap is the way to go..getting a drill in without taking the engine out looks like a pig!!

Will drive for awhile and see how it goes but im not hopefull...

The bars look better on Sid than they did on manda. Fingers crossed you can get him sorted before the Panda camp. Failing that the offer of Manda is still there. (y)

Cheers Manda guys....the rear bars really complete the look thanks to you...(y)
The car will be sorted for the meet one way or another..:bang:

Just want to drive it a bit before i set of to the camp...don't want to do an MEP and turn up behind an AA van...:D..sorry Jon.

Kev.

I have plenty of salad in the fridge but no Hellmans.
Is yours light or real Mayo?

It looks like there may be propshaft going after all!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you get it sorted, if not I'll have the bars as well.

:p The camera's will be ready to film your arrival. I would said I'd pack this;
2%20Ton%20Vehicle%20Tow%20Bar%20With%20Spring%20Damper_t.jpg

But there is no-where on Panda's to attach it :p

Yeah not the best look is it mate :D

As I always say, looks can be decieving. Was the most economical journey ever that trip back from Gaydon. Abot 120miles to 0 gallon of fuel :slayer::p

:ROFLMAO:

Kev,

If you remove the front bumper, radiator, exhaust manifold/ downpipe and coolant pipe you may have enough room to get a drill onto the broken bolt. If so, drill a small hole in it and then use a stud extractor to get the remains out. It may well work.

As for the mayo, if there's no sign of overheating or coolant loss this may be normal for an older car. My FIRE Unos would produce a bit of mayo but normally only in the colder months. Try driving Sid around a bit and get him up to temp., then check the expansion tank part of the radiator for signs of bubbling that may indicate head gasket failure. If there's no sign of bubbling and no sign of a decreasing coolant level then you may be worrying needlessly!

Good luck! :)

Hi Luke...Yeah i checked the exhaust and no steam...who knows...maybe it will be ok??!!...It was just that the day before there was no mayo..

Mustard and lemon juice eh????...very posh...i prefere balsamico and grain mustard...:ROFLMAO:
