I noticed the battery light was on (sort of) on the way to work this morning, first thought was the alternator is giving up the ghost. Got to work & put a voltmeter on the battery (engine off) & I'm getting a stable reading of 12.4v, I switch the engine on & get a stable reading of 14.4v. I switched on the lights, wipers, demister & heater & got a reading between 14.1v ~ 14.3v. The battery light is bright with just the ignition on but when the engine is running it isn't as bright as the other dash lights (side light one is much brighter). The car in question is a Fiat Cinq Sporting (1997). I would have thought anything over 14v with everything switched on would be ok, or it is possible the battery warning light is iffy?
