Technical OBD Code C1217

Hi all

Had ESC light up on the dash this afternoon,

Plugged OBD Scanner in and it read:

Code C1217:
Status: MIL/CONFIRMED/PENDING - Upper
Lateral Acceleration Sensor Circuit Erratic
Performance: Signal Stuck Low

Any clues as to where is best to start?

After some digging:

Code C1217: ABS Inlet Valve Coil RF Circuit Short To Ground

Is this the OS/F wheel sensor?

I don’t know, but the description suggests it’s a fault within the ABS pump unit, tucked down behind the brake servo on the passenger side of the engine bay?

Thanks for the reply,

I've checked tyre pressures to make sure they're not messing with wheel speed sensors and cleared the code - so far it has not come back on although I've only done about 20 miles since clearing the code.

I'll bear your advice in mind should it come back on and provide an update if I find anything though.

Quick update:
The code came back up, under the exact same circumstance as before: just as I put it into reverse to back into a parking space.

My reverse light recently stopped working but the bulb filament appears intact and I haven't had a chance to put a fluke across anything as yet, however, after some reading I have found that the reverse light may be on the same circuit as some ABS and stability control components, hence why this may be relevant to the code C1217.

So with all that in mind, do you know whereabouts the reverse switch is located on the Panda Cross TA?

The car recently had the gearbox out and I am wondering if a wire has been pinched or possibly a reverse switch hasn't gotten a good connection somewhere during the re-assembly.

Not sure which model yours is but on mine (4x4 MJ) the reverse light switch is on the side of the gearbox nearest the front of the car

The reverse light has its own fuse, and so far as I know, no connection to the ECUs at all?
