Hello all,

First off, let me introduce myself; I am from India and drive a 'Hip-Hop Black' Grande Punto 1.3 MJet (75HP).

I have located the eOBD socket in the fuse panel; I have a couple of questions regarding the subject.

1. Is there a 'all-in-one' tool to do both the error code check/reset and CAN bus sniffing?

2. I understand that the ELM 1.3 does work with the GP; can it also sniff / inject CAN bus messages?

3. I intend to install a car-pc and wanted to know if i could use a CAN bus message injection device to control some of the features of the car.

Any / all replies are appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Madhu.

I very much doubt it, Not very helpfull I know, but depending on what you want to control I doubt You'd be able to do it using a car-pc.

Well, all i want to control for now are the windows. let me start to crawl first... i shall fly later.

thanks,
madhu.

I don't think you'd be able to control the windows, to be honest pretty much everything on the car needs very advanced programming to get around the original programming. The windows are controlled of a live feed switch which then probably goes through a computer so unless you hack into the live feed wire and program a particular part of the computer outputs to feed 12v down that particular wire it probably isn't possible. unless you can go quite deep with the obd software

Well. as far as i understand, with the Lawicel CanUSB device you can sniff CANbus... so far so good... and, according to their manual, you can transmit the same message using that bus.

does anyone have any experience with that?

Hi All,

I am, as I am typing this, contemplating purchasing the Lawicel CANusb adapter. I shall keep you guys posted.

Wish me luck!!!

thanks,
Madhu.

Wrong actually. There a guy on the Stilo forum who has managed to control various functions of the body computer (windows, central locking, lights etc) through CAN-BUS and a computer.

The key is finding out what commands it is to operate it. I don't think its quite as simple as "sniffing" the data. It may be worth searching for the thread(s) in the Stilo section.
