Hi guys

am looking to set up a website and personal emails for my company. Have been looking online for available web addresses and the one i want is available

Im just slightly confused as to what registration and transferring means?

Is there no way that I can buy the name and forever be the legal owner?

The site im on is only offering the one i want for two years. What happens after that?

The price is only £5 for two years but dont want it to become £500 after that! or am i missing something?

and help or advice including cheaper ways to have a web address are welcome.

i do want it to be a .co.uk tho

thanks

When you sign up for a domain name, you are the registerred keeper of the domain for usually 2 years, and then after that time period is up, Nominet sends you a renewal certificate to renew your domain again for 2 years.
However, this renewal is usually automatic regardless, but if you don't pay within 6 months, then the domain will just expire...

I have a .me.uk domain. Nominet, who oversee all .uk domains send me a reminder every 2 years, so it's impossible to forget to renew it.
Unless you move without letting them know and the reminders don't reach you.
