£350 for a return on a ferry??? thats just madness.
Its not like may is peak time either, we went in july and it was..
I paid £29, but then we missed it, and ended up paying a further £49 which I wasn't happy about, however, I still have a valid ticket for my volvo E262 OFS, which runs until july 14/15th:rolleyes:

I've got a number plate for the volvo:p

either way, 1 or 2 laps is all you'll want in the panda, its dangerously slow, and with everybody else around you'll spend MOST of your time looking around waiting for the next car to fly past at 3x the speed your doing, later to see them crashed, then spending 2-3hours waiting for the track to be re-opened following cleanup, followed by 40mins of queing to get back on:bang:

10laps = 2days hard work. IF everything goes to plan. Or better yet, get on during the week if poss.

We're renting a Enduro Racer Golf for the racing

The pandas only going on for a charity lap to raise funds for the local Hospice and for the fun of getting it to Germany

Yeah, but there's motorways!:D

I know Gina & co have done poland but I was hoping some of our Polish friends will hop on with advice on the border crossings and the state of the roads....

It's as far to Moscow as it is to the ring from my house and I'm confident that she'd make it and just think the publictiy a panda in Red Square would do the panda-2-istanbul cause!

Hello Jim!

28 hours from 'Ring to Moscow, in Panda? Very, very ambitious :D
But my route is like that: in Germany thru Dresden, polish border in Gorlitz, then secondary road thru Bolesławiec to A4 motorway, then to Silesia. In Katowice or Sosnowiec you leave A4 and heading to Warsaw on E75 express road. From Warsaw to Mińsk (Belarus) thru Terespol or Białystok.
In my opinion Poland should take you about 10 hours. You can do a shortcut between Opole and Czestochowa, but on a secondary road, maybe 0,5 hour faster, or from Wrocław to Piotrkow, similar time. And can avoid Warsaw going by TIR transit south of Warsaw, but I doubt it would be faster.
We can pilot you thru Warsaw.
Remember, roads in Poland are much worse than in Germany. I don't know roads in Belarus and Russia, but I think they are no better. It'll be difficult to achieve mean speed faster than 50 mph thru Poland.
I will discuss your route with my friends.

Regards
Sutjeska
