Hi guys I'm after advise on a yet another fault with my 500x and advise on whether i can still eject the car.

Firstly the headlights for sometime i have noticed when driving and between 40-55 mph the headlight dim for around 2 seconds and at times I've also felt a very breif dip in power on the gas medal. Its this a common problem, anyone know what could be causing it and would a dealership easily find such a fault. The reason I ask the last question is tge dealership i go which is Mangoletsi are very quick to say the any faults ive put it in for are covered under warranty if they can replicate /find the fault if not I'd be charged £80 labour cost, so I'm concerned how would I replicate the fault and would a diagnostics show such a fault?

Second question regarding rejection:

Breif background i bought the car 17 months old (66 reg) 27 april 2018 remaining warranty and added extra 2 years warranty. Milage 13.5k,the car has currently done 18.5k to date.

Since day one I had problems with the car and did request to reject the car with the dealer and the finance Company in the first 30days as the clutch felt faulty, very stiff to operateand creaking pedal. The dealership agreed on driving the car it didn't feel right and said they'd look at fixing it after alot of we don't think it's faulty, greasing the pedal after a day inspecting visually. The dealer and the finance company asked me to allow them to inspect the vehicle before they could consider a rejection, which I thought was reasonable.

I took the car in and they stripped the clutch down and found there was a leak on tge master cylinder so it was faulty and proceeded with a repair. It was supposed to be a inspection for rejection, but they went ahead and repaired it. Seperate repair but the clutch pedal inside the cabin was still creaking on every press and i that needed to be replaced along with the stereo which was faulty with a rattle.

I went back to tge finace company and expressed my wish to reject and i was told well we've fixed the clutch, to which i replied you were supposed to just inspect it. So once again i was beateb down to accept the repair thinking just get through these couple jobs and it'll be a good car, the car had to go back in for not just a second stereo but a third new one each time them having the car 3 days, they also on the last occasion for the stereo desided to change the whole clutch pedal assembly and needed the car 2 days and they fitted the pedal, then got a call from Fiat italy to say don't release the car with the new clutch pedal is not passed quality control and that i need another clutch pedal, this pedal then took 4 weeks, yes I had a courtesy car, but its really not the point, the cat has been in around twice a month each month since i bought it.

Up to now ive had :
*New clutch assembly master cylinder
*3 new infotainment stereo
*2 new clutch pedals
*broken wheel arch liner replaced.
*new driver door window buttons
*i have squealing brakes they wont touch as they're not a warranty item
*rear washers leaking oyt when wash front wondow

And now the headlights are dimming/flickering whilst driving around 50mph.

It just seems endless the challenges with this vehicle, im dead on 6 months owning the car and want to know if i can still take this higher to reject. The finance company car handler won't even answer or return cans to me and actually sent me a letter saying the car is used and has a warranty and they develop faults so will not entertain a rejection, this was couple months ago and now new faults have appeared, can i take it further with higher governing bodies.? Thanks

Just to add Fiat italy have sent me a case of 6 bottles of wine for all this inconvenience, the whole thing had been a nightmare with this car, considering this is supposed to be a premium product for them it's been really poorly built and put together compared to my little 500 sport i had previously. But a case of wine imo is a insult

I have to confess that it was nothing to do with rejection, but I got so fed up with the arrogant attitude of the finance company that I reported them to the Ombudsman who found in my favour and the finance company had to compensate me. Might be worth dropping them a line if you feel you've exhausted all other options???

I rejected my last car after owning it for 7-8 months. Mind you, it was in the garage for four of those. You can reject up to 6 months after although the clock essentially pauses for the time the car's in the dealer's care. However you need to give them ample opportunity to fix problems. You need to look up the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If you have finance, it may make it more fiddly but it's worth a go.
