General 2016 500X Light issue ( front running light and rear turn signal and brake light)

Hi there, I am just seeing if I can get some help. We have a 2016 500 X and we have a running light that is out and a rear brake and turn signal that’s out. We have replaced the bulbs been to several AutoZone’s Walmart, none of the bulbs that I have purchased have worked. I called a mechanic who said that it’s probably the wrong bulbs and they want to charge me at least $400 to replace bulbs. Any thoughts on how I can do this a little bit less costly?

I have the same problem with the DLR's on my 2016 500X . The problem is with the bulb holders, they distort after a while because of the heat produced by the bulb. Take the the bulb and holder out of the car snd disconnect it from the loom, it is easier to work on it out of the vehicle. Looking inside the holder you will see that the metal part of the holder is just a semi circle of metal that makes contact with the bulb. Clean it up with some sand paper and spray it with some contact cleaner. Check the bulb with a circuit tester to make sure it is OK . When putting the bulb back into the holder slide a short length of thin fuse wire between the bulb snd the holder making sure the wire does not touch the centre contact. This piece of wire makes the bulb contact the holder much better. Reconnect to the main loom and test before before putting the holder back into the light housing.

I expect this is the same problem with the other lights, being an automatic it is too easy to keep your foot on the brake whilst waiting at traffic lights etc producing excessive heat in the holder, if you think you are going to be held up for more than a few seconds use the parking brake.

The procedure for fixing the DLR's sounds complicated but in reality it is 5 to 10 minute job.

Some people have converted to LED's bulbs with limited success, this is illegal in the UK, not sure what the rules in the US are.
