Got a 2001 110SX JTD that won't start, was fine yesterday evening and then today... click click click noise from the engine but no turnover :(

The progress check on the LED readout flashed every time I tried to turn it over and most of the lights were lit, the clicking (or ticking) noise seemed to be coming from the fuse relay box on the rear red fuse (big chunky rectangular one... 1 of 2 other than the see through coloured ones) took it out and put it back in.... now I get the oil light and the seatbelt light and nothing else. Hardly any power at all, even the central locking doesn't work.

Charged the battery for 6 hours today whilst I was out, hasn't helped whatsoever, anyone got any ideas ?

Apologies if I'm stating the bleeding obvious but is the battery ok and the connections sound?(tight and no corrosion)??

A new battery can often fix lots of unrelated electronic things on modern vehicles.

Even when the battery doesn't seem to be knackered, when it's on its way out it often can't quite cope with all the demands on it.

Everyone is right.... :)

Battery

Got the breakdown people to come out and it started 1st time with a jump from his battery, he said the connectors did look a bit corroded but this may be becuase the previous owner didn't keep the battery clean (Think my Dad told me once to wire wool the connectors and apply vaseline to prevent oxidising ?) - Battery didn't respond to a 6 mile drive and as soon as I turned the engine off... that was it - back to square one

Trying an overnight charge to see if it'll get me to town tomorrow for a new battery, thanks all :D

Any idea how much a new battery is ?

Apparently ok batteries can fail suddenly when the plates inside collapse and short circuit, sounds like whats happened to your's,in which case it wont take a charge. If you are gonna keep the car cough up for a decent battery,Varta or such like, it'll last for years.
