The sunroof is very noisy from about 40mph upwards, is there any way to improve this from inside the car without replacing any parts, its not leaking just very noisy. Thanks. Great car other than this.
The first thing I would look for is any obstruction, (leaves, dead moths, etc) that may be preventing the roof from seating properly. Then give all the seals and runners a good clean and a light greasing.
Good luck, get back and let us know how you get on.
Hi, reseated sunroof by loosening screws holding glass in place and it seems to have calmed down now. Thanks for the quick reply. Any advice on a light grease to use to clean the seal?
A silicone grease is less likely to cause any reaction with the seal. A light ball bearing grease like Molykote or something from a cycle shop should do.
Thanks for the replies guys! Have tried all suggestions but think I need a new sunroof seal. Any ideas where to get one on the web , preferably a place that would ship to Ireland???? Thanks.
Don't know where to get one from, but if you find somewhere let me know! My seal has gone kinda green and whilst the roadnoise is not too bad a new seal with grease would be much better. I get most of my road noise from around the mirrors in my Marea Weekend, any one else have the same problem? In fact at 95+ t becomes hard to hear the noise from the sunroof over the noise from the mirrors (or the seal around that part of the door!)
Have you tried reseating the door strikers on the chassis , I did this to mine and it made the wind noise from the doors go, if only the same could work for the sunroof !
Could you explain in a bit more detail? How would you adjust, is it just a screw adjustment? If it is simple then I will try, as it sounds as though this may be the problem. Thanks. Rob.
The way I adjusted was to unscrew both screws holding the door striker in place and move the striker in towards the car approx 1-2mm. and then retightened up. Carefully closed the door then just in case ! And hey presto no more road noise from either door. The screws have the hexagonal heads on them so you will need the right gadget for them. Good luck! There are markings on the chassis to adjust it also.
