Recently my Gearbox or Clutch has been making a "cluckity cluckity cluckity" sound.

When I press the Clutch the sound goes away, when I release it comes back.

Happens in Neutral and in all gears. The car still drives but for how long?

I hear this is to do with Gearbox Bearings, could it be something else and please could it be something cheaper to repair?

Can Gearbox bearings be repaired and at what average cost, or is it just a "gonna need a new gearbox mate"?

I know whatever the problem is its gonna kick me in the nuts soon

If anyone has had a similar problem how long till it completley messed up?

Thanks.

Had the same problem. You're solution is to change the clutch set, my recomendation is Valeo, here in Croatia it's sometheing less than 100 euros. You can still drive for a long time, but the sounds makes you crazy.

If it makes the same noise in gear as well then it's the tranny input shaft bearing, this is a bit difficult to replace and usually is done with a tranny rebuild. It is not the throw out bearing on the clutch, this only makes noise in neutral and it goes away when the clutch is depressed;) .

I'll look into the cost of another box. I'm also not planning on selling my Tipo and its currently being modified until I run out of money. is there any other Fiat Box or even another manufacturer box that maybe has a better gear ratio for my 1.6 Carb that will fit without any mad modifications?

Also anyone recommend a good performance clutch while I'm with the replacing in that area? not one of those instant drive clutches though something which combines practical road use with well... more speed :
