I own a brava 1.24cc special edition and the radio/cd player squeeks or rattles I am not sure which.
Can anyone tell me how to remove the unit so that I can fin the cause.

Please email me at [email protected]

Go to a Fiat dealer

A number of people have posted messages on this forum about succesively removing the radio using thin bladed knives. However, the dealers have a key that slides down the side of the radio and releases it in seconds. It is such an easy process that most dealers will do it for free. Personally I think this is easier then having a go yourself, and it removes the risk of damaging either the radio or the dashboard.

Hope this helps.

Forget It

Unless it's a really bad squeak or rattle, I wouldn't bother wasting your money at Fiat dealership. They will spend hours trying to locate it and charge you a fortune.

Unfortunately, Bravo's and Brava's do rattle and squeak a bit, as do most cars in the same price bracket. You're not paying Mercedes or Jaguar money, so you can't expect that level of refinement I'm afraid.

My three year old Bravo has had the odd rattle here and there pretty much from new. It used to annoy the hell out of me, but in time you just get used to it and accept that's how the car is.

Research Garage, Nuneaton

They fixed my very annoying rattling dashboard yesterday (under warranty). After a couple of attempts by other garages I took it to Research. The first time they soundproofed the stereo but it didn't work. They had it again yesterday and the girl on reception got the service manager to come for a quick spin in the car so he could hear it for himself (all this without any prompting from me!). They stripped the dash out and tightened everything that could be tightened. Hey presto! The rattle has gone and I can enjoy my car again. There are good dealers out there - maybe we need a 'recommended' list?

Re: Forget It

My partners VW started to do that soon after we bought it. It was solved by inserting a sliver of paper between the stereo and its holder.

Normally this kind of thing is caused by bad mounting or something breaking during actually mounting the stereo.

Go winge at the garage, mention build quality loudly - but wait until they have customers in....
