Noise from engine???????

Hi guys,

Got a noise comin from left size of the hgt engine, sounds like slippin fanbelt type noise but wondered if it could be anythin more sinister!!!

Cambelt changed at 65000 now at 78000 and dont know if it makes any noise when theres a problem??

Any help or advice would be great.

left as you look at it, i.e. cambelt side, if it is then it could well be your fanbelt slipping which isnt anything major to worry about.

You can adjust the tension of the belt with the adjusting bolts on the alternator, but if i was you i would replace the belt at the same time

do the mk1 hgt's have a fan belt? as the mk2's dont.

Haha. No bravo has a fan belt but they all inc the HGTs have a auxiliary belt.

Pete, yeah left hand as you look at it from front of car. Think its one of the two belts down that side beside alternator.

Cheers Joske, kinda knew it didnt have fanbelt but thats just the sound it makes!
