No Volume form Kenwood radio

I have a kenwood radio cd installed in my 2001 punto, the radio comes on, lights up and will change channels however I can get no volume from speakers, I have checked the fuses and these are ok I have checked the wiring and it all is in good repair, I am stumped and do not know what else to try, the radio was not working when I bought the car and previous owner could not provide any details as they had not had radio on (dealer), The car is fitted with front speakers only, don't want to buy a new radio and find out I still have problem. Hi,
have alook in the passenger side of car near door pull material back
and look for speaker conector block check this is latched in correctly,

failing that remove speaker covers and check see if someones put aftermarket ones in if so see if wires are on,
