Hi Folks, ive just bought a t reg bravo 1.6 16v hlx knowing that it needed the ECU PROGRAMMING,but owner only had two blue keys and not the Big red one!!
What i need to know is,can i get round this somehow without going to fiat,or would it be easier to source the full kit from a breakers!!!
Cheers.

The breakers would have to supply you with a engine ecu, code box and complete lock set which is a good few hours to fit. This is fairly straight forward to do.
Or you can get the ecu decoded and disconnect the code box which allows all the keys you have to work.
If the car is running and you have enough keys then dont worry about it

No re key!

Unfortunately, the car does not run and the key light on dash stops on.
Th previous owner had someone out to looke at it and told him that fiat do 6 ecu,s and that 5 can only be decoded and ive now got the one that can,t be!!
Looking GRIM.

decoding them costs about 50 squidlies and i havent heard of a ecu that cant be decoded.I dont suppose you know which type it is do you(make) and i will make some enquiries for you...

£50 would be nice to sort things out!
Il have a look tomoz to see what make and model it is and get back to you ok.
Thanks

Was this the one on ebay by any chance? I was going to buy it for the alloys if it was.

Yes it was on ebay and im well pleased with it!
I think i got a bargain and im sure il be able to get this key problem sorted.

No re key!

Thanks for that,it would sort it out in one fell swoop

Yes, just plug in then immo and ECU find each other and match up. {providing the key and the immo are matched).

If your ecu is that nasty little Bosch unit, Motronic 1.5.5 (9cm x 12cm),then you may have some trouble getting it done cheaply. I have one around here with the codes etc to make a working unit. Let me know if you are interested.

Sorry to steal this...

Dose anyone have any idea why this happens, i've seen so many case's of it happen just recently and getting slitly worried about mine as i don't have a red key.

dose the ECU just reset itself or something.

oh yeah and will i need the red key if I was to disconnect the battery.

Thanks

Dave

No. you can disconnect battery, it will not affect anything but be sure you have your radio code because if the code is on it will remove that

ok cool thats good coz i have a aftermarket radio that dosen't need a code and beleave the battery will need changing soon.

Thanks
