No Red Key

Need help quick, i have a Bravo 1.4SX 1996 and do not have a red key and the car will not start, had a quote today from a auto electrician says it could be either the two ecu's or the sensor that reads the key code.
Can you bypass the system in anyway or will it cost me the £1000 to have it fixed !!

someone is selling there set full red key set and then you can get some blue keys cut read the post about red key in insurance somewthing along those lines!!
