Hi all,

New to the forum. Have searched through previous threads and have helped a little, have checked the usual suspects with no joy.

Basically when I put indicator stalk to turn left I get the fast flashing on the dash but none of the indicators work front/back/side repeater on passenger side. When put in position to turn right all works fine On right side.

All bulbs are working
Tail light/reverse/brake all ok.

No xmas tree display.

Have had the cluster out and ran a Multi meter across all bulbs. 12v going to all except indicator. All connections clean and free of corrosion. Earth points good and clean and tight like new. Only 64k on car for 2001.

Bulbs in headlamp and side repeater have also been tested and no power going to them either.

Have checked fuses under steering wheel and all ok.

I can hear a relay behind fuse panel under dash. It clicks normal speed when stalk is used for turning right. Speeds up when turning left.

Everything works except the indicator bulbs on passenger side.

Possible break in wiring and if so where would I start? Is it a case if one doesn't work they all fail.

Any ideas please?

Thanks
Simon

Have checked all those threads already except third link. If there is something wrong with multifunction control unit.

Is it easy to replace.

Also can the indicator stalk fail for one side only?

What wire should I look for that feeds power to indicators on passenger side to see if there is a break in wiring

Front left indicator (in headlight)
is powered via MFCU (multi function control unit) Connection C - Pin 38

Left Wing indicator is MFCU Connection A - Pin 2

Left Rear in cluster - MFCU Connection A - Pin 12

So not easily to test really

Had it in with an auto electrician today. It's the MFCU that's gone. Not giving any power to just the indicators on passenger side. Off to look for a replacement now. Do they need to be coded to the car or are they just plug and play?

No charge for the diagnosis either which is always a bonus!

No nothing at all on the left indicators no power at all going to connections.
Was just going to get a replacement from breakers yard. Same model/spec etc..

Would I need to replace ecu and keys/barrels also or just swap out the bsi unit.

Thanks for welcome. Got a control unit today and fault is still there. Going to assume that there is a break in the wiring that's causing it or no power coming from the fuse box to unit?

Auto electrician said if one wire was broke other 2 indicators should work. Do the passenger indicators have their own feed from the fuse box?

According to the wiring diagram on AD
The indicators literally go from the MFC straight to the bulbs

Bearing it mind - the MFCU will also dictate time (flash's per second)

I'd agree with the Auto sparky, if simply 1 wire was broken, the other 2 will still flash, but faster as its the same situation as a blown bulb

I dont think this is a wiring issue, but a control unit issue

It's strange though when I switched the MFC and fuse box today the fault was still there. Everything worked as it should have with the exception of the passenger indicators, that's why I'm thinking a power supply issue to unit or possibly something with the loom. Is there just the one live feed to passenger fuse box that covers all the plugs/connections or do each have their own feed??

By that I mean is there one incoming feed that each plug takes its voltage from that then distribute out to whatever they are servicing.
