Technical No fuel coming out of pump?

Having put a new engine in my car and initially turned it on starter to get some oil around, no fuel is coming out of the pump. Any ideas, there are 2 electric feeds, 1 at the top, 1 at the bottom, both connected to the pump (although I have loose ends elsewhere - could be these) would lack of electric connections to the pump prevent flow??

isn't it someway connected to a fuel cut of module? though isn't it a mechanical fuel pump?? probably not much help sorry.

Oh dear got this far but think will have to call someone out. Also strange that on starter, oil is not getting into cam. Just a thought, which way round does the crank sprocket turn?
