Hello everyone,

At the moment I have a problem with a Fiat Ulysse 2.0 16V petrol (136hp) automatic from 2003.
This is the new model based on the Peugeot 807 and Citroen C8.
There is a Vialle LPG system built in (serial No. gas ECU: 20212562935).
Chassisnumber is:ZFA17900013067057

The customer indicated that he started the car and got a backfire, after this he couldn't open the throttle.
The customer has a Fiat dealer to come, but they could not read the ECU with their diagnostic equipment.
He was advised to go to the Peugeot dealer, the client went to the dealer on idle rpm where the throttle and ignition coil was indicated as error.
The first was broken by the backfire.

After replacing the throttle body could, het could rev the engine up but it was not running smooth, the customer has replaced the ignition coil module himself.
But after this was done, the engine never runned again, he turns around but will not start.
Inside the car is working (almost) nothing, only the display will flash on after it locks in ECO mode, (nothing can done because everything is locked).
Normaly the climate control and heater fan immediately kick in after unlocking the car, but this will not work now.
The electric windows do not work and the electric sliding doors won't open (only the right one somtimes).

The electric lock the car goes well but the indicator lights don't flash, the customer said the alarm went off and could not be turned off (even after locking and unlocking the car).
Both keys tried but this also did not matter.
Dashboard displays only the ASR light, empty petrol tank light and the cooling system overheated light.

Now I wanted to read the car with the interface Lexia Peugeot / Citroen but the only thing the diagnostic computer does is automatically identify the chassis number, and the following error: unable to connect to ECU .
I find this very weird since he retreives first the chassisnumber automaticly.

The Fiat ECU Scan diagnostic system don't supports the Ulysse.
After tried with it with the ScanMaster ELM and ScanMaster XL I got the error: Protocol not known.

Power to the EOBD plug measured this is 12V.
All fuses checked these are also good.

Does anyone have had this problem and know what to check out?
Does anybody know what kind of engine ECU it has, Magnetti Marelli, Siemens or Bosch (I'couln't find this in eLearn or ePer)?

I hope someone can help me, I couln't find any similar threads.

You can try these people, they may be able to help. http://www.ecutesting.com/catalogue/fiat_eculist.html?category=4046&model=587 They rebuilt mine a couple of weeks ago and I can recommend them as a satisfied customer.

You will need the ecu numbers and that should have the manufacturers name on the outside of the unit so you may not need them at all.

As to location of the ecu, to my surprize my one was in the front offside of the engine bay bolted to the wing. I was expecting it to be hidden away inside the van itself.

My Uylesses is a 2000 model so the location may well be different, but its a start if you not sure where to look!

There is a big multiplug on the fuse box on the o/s inner wing that connects to the engine management ecu, on the n/s inner wing, if this is disconnected not much works inside ( discovered this on the one I'm breaking which has no engine & box).

I would suggest using switch cleaner on all the contacts of all the large multiplug a on the ecu and the fuse box as they may have got wet etc. failing that a new ecu possibly.
