got in car to go to work, and YIKES no breaks, when i got home there was a puddle so i no im losing fluid, looked under bonet and the break fluid was totally empty,

after examining the car, ive found that it is leaking from the rear end of the car,

so how can i get this sorted? i cant even drive it to a garage and i cant get towed otherwise id just crash into the back of the person towing me, its the easter weekend and i really need my car so please someone give me a few ideas,

if i take the wheel off and have a look will it be obviouse to what the problem is?

have a look around and see what you can, should be able to find by tracing the fluid. Biggest problem will be getting parts, a lot of places will be closing! if i were you i'd have a dig about sooner rather than later. or call the aa if you are a member

Most likely a rear brake cyl has failed, pop the rear wheels off and see which one is dripping. Should be easy to see.

As for what you can do about it.. probably bugger all until tuesday :(

They usually leak around the end. No leaks from the drum?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: no breaks after recently installed new discs n pads

just had a look there, and no, it isnt leaking from the drum, its coming from where a sideskirt would be fitted to the car, if that makes sence, near where u would jack the rear end up,

OK, there are a few joints under there, could be the flexy pipe or one of the solid pipes may have rotted through. You need to get it up on stands and have a good look.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: no breaks after recently installed new discs n pads

i think it is the flexi pipe. if it is will this mean it will be cheaper and easier to fix? could i maybe do this myself? if i went out and bought the right bit.

and if im wrong and its the solid pipe does this mean im going to burn a hole in my wallet?

I would have thought it would be pretty cheap either way...

I think you hit the nail on the head with your earlier comment "Where you would jack the car up"...maybe the jack caught the pipe slightly...:(

hi, just wanted to thankyou for your help, i have located the problem after putting my car on ramps, its one of the metal tubing in the rear has rusted leaving a hole where the break fluid escapes, should be cheap to fix as the part is a small tube, ill just have to buy a new one on tuesday then bleed it.
