No boot

I can't get my 'new' server to boot..

It recognises there is a bootable CD but then doesn't boot from it. Maybe I'll have to actually give it some hard discs first?

what are you trying to achive? to boot an OS from CD/DVD? may be issues if there is no HDD atall or could be that the CD/DVD isnt bootable

you need a HDD when you boot off a cd even for the cd to create a ram drive...

Erms, so why did my two old router/servers run of a CD image w/out a HDD then? Unless you want to tell me that it could see an external firewire HDD chain on a PCI expansion card before booting.

A machine that runs various server services (SSH, ftp, http, dns, dhcp, etc) and doubles as a gateway router for inet access. First machine was a dell GXi (Pent 233MMX) second was a P-II based celeron on an Abit motherboard.

afraid i cant really see anything on the video, looks like its not a bootable CD though....

if the image for the disk isnt too big you can send me it and i'' have a look but no promises i'm a very busy bunny atm

It's 2003 server standard edition. Nothing wrong with the image.

Once I've got some disks for it I'll have another go.
