Hello all.

I'm wondering if I could pick some brains and ask for some help please.

Our friend has got a Petrol P-reg Nissan Serena. Back in 2003/2004 his daughter smacked it in a car park, and because it was an MOT failiure how it was, when the MOT ran out, he got it sorn.

I fixed it all up last summer, and it was running perfectly. Just needed him to get it re-MOT'ed and on the road.

Now the bloody thing won't run.

I'm down his tomorrow until Friday and have the great task of trying to get it going.

I've looked at it, and it will turn over, but just won't fire. It has fuel in it, and you can hear the fuel pump purging when the ignition is turned on.

I was going to ty firstly putting a new set of spark plugs in to see if that makes any difference as it's not been serviced since god only know when

I was just wondering if anyone else has a Serena and has had similar problems, or has just got any Idea's, Hits and / or tips.

Many thanks. Jon. (y)

so you're saying one year ago it worked fine, and since then it has stood without running at all?

if that is the case, i'd consider trying another battery. when left for some time they can show 12v when recharged and seem fine but the cold cranking amps are too low so it causes the immob to remain on when trying to start (and starter motor turns slightly more slowly than usual, but you wouldnt notice if you arent familir with the car).

also consider damp or corroded electrical connections if it has stood outside. furry battery terminals for example, or a rotten main earth strap.

no offence... but its a Serena, terrible cars let it die.

i remember i went out for a test drive in one with my uncle when they were new and it broke down on the test drive lmao

ours lasting forever :nerner:

got 2.0d i have to give written notification to pull out at a junction, it doesnt reach 60 for 3 days, awful braking unless you have fatties in the rear

great driving position, but I suppose that a good thing as you have time to admire the view:bang:

Many thanks Jug, will try a battery out of an everyday running car (y)

Well, he's been offered £1500 for it when it was smashed up on the drive, so can't be that crap!

A good Jap motor, that's why, lol.

Had a good old play, ad got really dirty, the immobiliser is de-activating.

We got new plugs, and fitted, tried and same problem. We removed plug's to see if they looked any different, and they didn't even smell of fuel.

So I've check the fuel supply, and it's fine. It seem to be that the injectors are not injecting as fuel is getting to the injection rail/line.

I cleaned up a earthing point, and still the same porblem  :(

Any more idea's?

Thanks. Jon.

you know there is no injection, have you also checked for a spark on all plugs? if there is no spark and no fuel then it could be crank sensor or the main earth strap. if there is a spark and no fuel then the problem is more likely to be an ecu fault or a wiring fault in the injector circuit (usually the shared earth used by all injectors that goes to the head).

TELL HIM TO TAKE IT!!!

Lol, I told him not to cos I was going to repair it, which I have. I said to him get it MOT'ed and either start using it, or sell it, so he leaves it sitting for another 12 months and now this happens. It's ****ed I think. Ideally needs a specialist to look at it.

I mean this is my friend with the Escorts estate which nearly killed him by making the two front wheels almost fall off, and then has the steering wheel in the Escort make a funny noise when turning it, leave it for about 12 months, and then BANG, airbag just randomly deploys when driving along  :ROFLMAO:
