Finally i bought my coil and fixed the coil with a help of technician still the car vibration nothing has changed its make some crazy noise when the car is in idle position.

i also ordered obd 2 code reader to read the fault code to ientiy the problem but i am not able connect this with FIAT ECU SCAN it says NO RESPONSE FROM ECU CHECK YOU SETTING AND TRIED.

As a option i tried the same VCD LITE itsel it says port ok interface notfound:mad:

I attaching my screen shoting setting could body help connect this OBD2 my car. Currently my car is in Garagae which took at least one hour to reach there

Punto 1.2 16v engine vibration

Hello All,

After long search i found local dealer who is selling ignition coil and i changed with the help of mechanic and he adjusted timing belt and cleaned some waste from the exhaust.

One day vehicle is running fine next day again it start to vibrating and its struggling move from when the vehicle is idle position in signal and even when the gear L instead D but result remain the same. when the vehicle reaches 60-80 kmph every thing final even i drive up to 110 kph its seem good icold not much vibration its seems to be ok but starting 0-40 its struggling too much. Even spark plug is new and new ignition coil

In my car mechanic cannot find some spares he himself made some tube and connected to the engine or some black box. I don't know why it was used there.

I attached photos & car vibration for your reference please advice is this cause any problem.

An another thing i punto automatic car i see E and +/- buttons are there what is the use of that of while driving?

Re: Punto 1.2 16v engine vibration

Did you change both coils?

The ignition cables can also cause this.

Re: Punto 1.2 16v engine vibration

as Bromodo points out the ht leads really need changing on these cars more often than normal because they live down the throat of the engine and often break on removal to spark plugs

i would suggest you check you have the correct plugs fitted
buy some quality ht leads
make sure the coil you have fitted is up to specification for this engine

i would also suggest you treat the engine to an oil and filter because it sounds like a diesel

Hi Sheik,

I have merged your two threads so people can see the full background story to your engines rough running.

Alan

Hi sheik.
have you tried different ht leads?

my 1.2 16v went like that when the leads broke down.
these 16vs run hot and the leads are very close to top of engine /head extension so they can eat ht leads.. i invested in some aftermarket stronger ht leads.. expensive but worth it .

iwouid try new leads if it aint electrical it might be spitting worst case scenario h/g leak

I check spark at end of HT leads it seems to be good as i can see good spark on that an another thing is its very diffcult to find a spare of punto models here in Dubai can i use any other cross reference HT leads. It would be ok if its for toyota,Nissan

looking at a spark is not the same as a spark working under load
rather than fitting generic leads can you not order from outside your country?

i would be better if its within the country is there any cross referece available for HT leads?

Hi,
my car (same engine, 1.2 16V FIRE but in my case not Fiat Punto, but Lancia Y) felt like it was running on three cylinders when it was cold, but it was running fine when it got a little warm. I remembered that you had similar problems. Let me show you what I found in my engine:

It's a miracle that this engine still ran at all. Everything was corroded, one of the spark plugs wasn't tightened down correctly, all of the plugs were worn and two of the connectors on the ignition coil broke right off when I removed them. I replaced the ignition leads, coils and spark plugs, now it starts right up, idles like a clock and runs great even when cold. You should have your mechanic take another look at the ignition, as your problem seems to be similar.

All the parts cost me around £65 and it took about an hour to replace. The FIRE engine is really a nice and inexpensive thing to drive, even after going 16V.

As far as Saudi Arabia goes: You should be able to get all those parts at the Bosch Service Center, but you might as well order them from the internet.

I hope it helps everyone with the same problem.

More likely to cause detonation/pre-ignition (much more damaging!)

But (I repeat):

Much more likely to be leads than plugs
Another make of plug will be fine
Get the codes read

DCPR8E is a very hard plug, but NGK/FIAT will be recommending it for a reason.

You can get them on eBay UK.............

What does "DCPR8E is a very hard plug" actually mean?

I've never heard the term "Hard Plug" before and couldn't find it using a search engine.
