Jim, travel insurance will take care of you if you have an accident or if you cause an accident, unfortunately it won't take care of any claims made against you if you cause an accident in a car.

Right, I've got a keyboard now so I can winge in a QWERTY style rather than the limited moaning on my Ericsson...
As I'd said I phoned Classic Travel this morning and spoke to Chris and you could tell by his voice that he was as frustrated by this as me. Apparently it's putting him out of business as the Americans are 'Closing themselves off from the world' and are no longer interested in offering cover to Europeans taking there own cars over. He's been trying to get an alternative for months but there's nothing doing. I think he was using the package that Annette used to sell that I was speaking to last night as they both sang the same tune that they used to offer it but now no longer do...
From the Mexipass website...
That policy used to cost $91 a month!! Bargain!! On pressing Annette last night she said they've pulled that policy and have no intention of re-instating it.
So Chris's advice was to turn up in the US and just hunt around for a broker that will offer cover.... There's lots of people in the same position as me and the only way that cover can be got is to find a broker that's willing to take it on...
Looks like that's what I'll have to do

Jim, its a long shot, but have you had a word with the tourist part of the American embassy. Lay it on thick about how wonderful the yanks are and how you would hate for them to be the only major democracy your Panda does not get to visit and let them do the leg work for you. cheers Damon
