Complete newbie just became the happy owner of a 1981 Spider "project". I have been driving manual transmission cars for years and greatly appreciate thoughts and best practices for shifting here. I haven't had a chance to get my "new" Fiat out yet for more than a few miles but noticed that it seems very hard to find and put the car in first gear and reverse. What I mean literally is that with the clutch engaged, it is difficult to move the shifter into first gear - same for reverse.
Prior owner recommended keeping the car in 1st when parked and assume that like most other cars, that isn't problematic.
Again greatly appreciate any thoughts.
thanks!
Scott
