Hi I ve got a 1.2 8v mk2 punto that has been a fair bit of trouble since i ve bought it, so fair I ve had to replace the power steering ecu, the wiper linkages, sort out 3 fairly bad oil leaks, fix the windscreen washer pump, the nearside headlight, two new front tyres and wheel tracking, get a new battery, the bonnet release is broken so i have a cable tie to open the bonnet and the check straps on the door are either broken or they ve come loose and dropped down the side of the door.

I love the car and I ve been happy to be paying to fix all this which hasnt been too cheap but now the car wont start at all, I was driving along a minor road doing about 25 and the engine cut out and now it wont start again, tried jumping and bump starting it but wont help, had to have it towed home and apparently the battery and all the fuses are fine but all that works now is the horn the radio the inside light and the side lights. Annoyingly i was driving with the windows down so their suck down now as well :bang:

If anyone has any ideas what this might be to do with it would be so useful cant find anything else like this on here or anywhere else. Forgot to say none of the dashboard lights come on apart from the side lights one and the engine wont even try and turn over when you turn the key all that happens is the side lights come on really dimly.

Also i have a pretty poor induction kit on the car off ebay which i want to replace and i want a decent performance exhaust what would be the best makes etc to get for these?

Thanks

hi, im having trouble with my punto aswell, fortunatly for me though my eventually starts after about 10 secends of turning over. it jump starts straight away aswells.

have you checked the voltage of the battery without the engine on? because it could be your alternator has packed in so hasnt chaged your battery up and you have drove your car without the alternator working causing your battery to drain. your battery should read 14V if it is charged.

in regards to your induction kit aswell K&N are always a good make for air filters/induction kits etc.

The battery is okay and as far as im aware the alternator is too so pretty sure thats not the problem

I ve always been told K&N arent worth the money dont know how true this is though
