First off hello to all, ive spent a couple of hours lurking in this forum and looks like a helpful place(thankfully)

So here goes, today i purchased a V reg Multipla 1.6 with 81k on the clock, the car was listed as spares or repairs and only £400 which i think wasn't a bad price. The exterior and interior are quite tidy, bar the rotting and scratched plastics.
The immediate issues are the handbrake cable has snapped, needs a cambelt change and the previous owner apparently never had the car serviced in the 7yrs that they had it:eek:
Had to drive it 30 miles back home but it will be sat until i get the above issues sorted.

so a few questions for people in the know
1.How much roughly will a cambelt/waterpump cost me (fitted)
2.i have no problem giving the HB cable a go as its only the font bit thats gone...but....when i tried to wiggle the rear cables one moves freely but the other doesnt move? so i assume its stuck on right?

will get the car on the ramps tomorrow evening and give it a proper looking over before i start ordering stuff so just looking for some heads up on the above issues

Thanks in advance(y)

Be worth jacking up the back of the car and making sure your back wheels spin freely .. Your stuck cable could be jamming a brake on which can be dangerous.
Sounds like a good buy alright.
Be worth flushing the engine before draining the oil.
I'm sure you'll spot a few small probs but the multi is great fun to drive and own.
Wish I'd bought one years ago!!!

Just a quick update

a few bits arrived today so ive finally made a start on the car:D

first off i replaced the front HB cable which was fiddly but very straight forward but it appears my rear right cable is naffed, so going to order a set of rear cables and do both

have now changed the air filter and spark plugs, and then it started lashing it down so oil will have to wait, and thanks for the tip Marty i didnt even think about that so will be adding some flush to my latest eurocarparts order!!

Looks sweet well done.

Also loosen your oil filter(and retighten a tad) with a cold engine.
Do the same for sump plug.

PITA trying to loosen a stiff and HOT filter or sump plug.
