Firstly, Hey!

I joined today as i am buying a 2004 Active Sport 16v on Friday :)

Now, i know from looking around on the internet that the speakers in Punto's are in simply terms, rubbish. So i would look to upgrade them straight away as i am somewhat a large music fan and low quality is a no go.

I have been looking around and Mutant Harmony's have caught my eye as a friend got some and said they were great. Now i'm not too techy so wouldn't know much about changing these myself so i am not sure what speakers would be a simple/straight fit.

I will start with the door speakers first, then progress throughout the car so any help on which are good, bad, etc would be amazing! Looking ideally for good bass response but at the same time good treble.

Thanks :)

Oh no, i think ive just been very dumb.

I have an aftermarket stereo if thats what you meant, it's pioneer

yeah thats it :) well then now for speakers... dont get mutant speakers they arent very good quality you can get much better for your money :)

your budget include an amp or not? as amped front speakers will mean alot better bass and treble which you can adjust to your needs easily plus they will be so much better quality than wired straight to your Headunit (y)

hmm, would you be able to recommend amp included and speakers with around £100 budget and speakers alone for about £50?

For just over £50 you could get Vibe Slick 6 components they are the components i would go for with a £50 budget

For a 2 channel amp i would recommend this
http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/9146.html at the moment its on a good deal altogether thats just abit over your £100 but the quality you are getting is worth it, if you want i can find some more for a bit less??

Would those speakers be able to fit as a direct replacement or require modification?

Also, how easy are they to fit?

They would be a straight replacement, they are very easy to fit you just take the speaker cover off and then unscrew the screws around the speaker from what i remember :)

i will put some of my speaker pics up tomorrow for you if that would help :)

Also, i know the SQ would be much worse without the amp but would it hold up fine without? just working out my options.

Also, any other speaker recommendations? Would like to keep my choice open :)

do you know the exact model of your headunit?

yeah there are a few if you arent looking to amp:
Alpine ones:http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/508.html
or Fli ones: http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/5019.html

basically in the specification your looking for these things
Sensitivity - as close to 90 or above 90 if possible, as this is how well it can perform whilst playing loudly the larger the number the better the quality :)
RMS Power Handling - this is the power that it can handle continuosly this only tends to matter when you are amping them up :)

Well any speakers can be amped but it tends to be the better quality speakers that you amp, even if you amp those speakers they will sound alot better :)

And yep they are a direct replacement 6.5" or 16.5cm is the front speaker size

The fli ones will give a better base response and probably will give better overall sound aswell, what I advise tho is to buy a sub to reproduce the deep bass notes and leave the fronts to reproduce the mids and highs that way you will get a better overall sound experience :)

But out of the two I would pick the fli ones if you dont want to amp them, plus they would be fine amped up aswell if you ever decided to amp :)

I have a 10" edge active sub in my boot this does the job perfectly for me although I would like a 12" as it gives a better all round bass. I prefer to have a sub with a built in amp as that way you know it is perfect for the sub. I know vibe do these subs and also edge do them aswell, vibe obviously are the better quality ones so cost more but i think an edge active 12" would be just fine for you or if thats to expensive go for a 10"
