Newbie needs new zaust :(

Well I've had the car for 2 weeks now and it's always had a slight rattle since I bought it coming from the back box. At first I thought it might of been the chrome trim off the back box hitting the bumper but when I took it off the rattle was still there... Just took it to a garage and the back box has come away from the centre section (the back box and centre section is off a 1.4 aswell according to them). So aparently I need a new cat back system which is going to be about £130 fitted... Is there anyone breaking a 1.8 16v Bravo? Or can anyone tell me if I can just buy a back box for it...

you can fit just a back box if the pipe to the centre silencer is ok

where are you based? i have a rage back box that i just took off my car available. im in kent

Hi Alan
Try DCMS for a quote they specialise in stainless systems built to order.
I've just had one fitted on the Alfa and it was only £275 from the cat back.
So should be cheaper for the Bravo.
There just off Rossendale rd just before the cemetery (Billington rd) and follow it round to the left and there on the right.
NOT straight on as the guys at the bottom of that road will rip you off.
If it helps they used to be called TOPGEAR but he ditched the franchise as they were costing to much and quality wasn't great.

P.S. I've just called them for you and they gave me the same quote for the 1.8 as they did for my Alfa £275 from the cat back stainless system you choose the tail pipe.

firstly, being picky you have it the wrong way around, but thats just because the banks are a pain in the arse and have got me in a bad mood!

right, well if thats where its snapped you will be able to get a universal back box for your car and then get someone to fit it (if mods are your thing?) the remainder of the exhaust pipe that leads from the centre silencer (other side of the rear wheel) will need to be cut down and the back box ban then be fitted quite easily

Oops! Ive just had a closer look at my pic and yes I have been looking at it the wrong way around. The bit where it has come away isn't the tail pipe side, it's the side that connects to the centre section... Even if i could just put another back box on... wouldnt a 1.4 centre section be bad on my car? As mine is a 1.8...

im afraid i dont know if the 1,4 will fit the 1.8, i know the 1.8 wont fit the 1.2 from trying though

It has to fit... It's on my car as we speak! lol

I have spotted one on eBay for £80 all in, it's the centre section and the backbox (i think!)

And according to Bosal it looks 100% bang on!

as for being bad for the car im not too sure, dont know how different the flow rates are and if it stifles things too much. the back pressure is a balancing act, too much and you choke the engine on itself, too littel and you loose all torue etc

if its been running ok with it beofre hand then crack on mate

I threw away a whole nearly new centre section of a 1.8 exhaust only 4 days ago...D'Oh

The zaust that was on it was actually for a 1.8, aparantly the zaust manufacturers changed the design of them (so the 1.8's dont have the tail pipe coming from round the back)...

Just got one fitted for £92 with 2 years warranty
