Technical Newbie needing help!!!

Hi peeps,

I have searched the internet high and low and cant quite find the answer Im looking for...

I believe my passenger deadlock has closed and seized as my central locking appears to be working but the passenger door wont open from inside or out.

I have managed to get the door card off and have just purchased a locking mechanism off ebay but my question is this...

CAN YOU ACTUALLY REMOVE A DEADLOCKED MECHANISM WITH A CLOSED DOOR? IF SO , HOW?

I was thinking about maybe drilling the 3 bolts out what hold the lock in place but will the deadlocks be in place still? I dont know how the locks work and cant quite see it!

i know this maybe a silly answer but on the menu, on the dash, u can actually change the settings to make both or 1 door open with the central locking,

or by pressing open twice fast opens it too i think?

maybe silly but worth a look

Did you try unlocking with the key in the passengerdoorlock?

there's only an option for 'independent boot lock' not doors from the dash menu... id suspect a dickie micro switch in the door lock mechanism although i don't know if its removable with the lock in place

Hi. Had this on both my stilo’s but on the back door, this worked for me both times.
Put the key in the passenger side lock then go right, right, left, if that doesn’t work try left, left, right.
I can’t remember the sequence now so try it both ways (oh the joys of getting old), I do remember the second time it took several goes to work.

I have mine set to only unlock the drivers door with the remote control.

Thanks for the quick responses guys.
I do not have a key lock on passenger door only the divers side! I have tried the key turn sequence but had no joy. also tried sitting in and pulling handle then pressing lock on the fob over and over again! can you 'shock' the deadlock by putting a voltage on any of the pins? If so any ideas which? I've read the aa sometimes do that to some cars...

If the deadlock part of the lock is seized, connecting an external power supply to it would have no effect.

The AA do it by switching the ignition on and activating the inertia fuel cut off switch. This usually unlocks all the doors, but same as above, if the lock has seized it still wouldn't open/

I have absolutely no idea how to free it off!!! Drill the mechanism as much as I can from inside???

Hi. They really are a waste of time; I can’t think of any possible advantages in using them except that the guy at the garage makes more money.
I assume you have managed to get the door card off, you could try giving the lock mechanism a tap while someone operates the fob maybe use a metal drift or a socket extension bar, I’m thinking the shock might loosen it
