New warning light ???

Hi guys,

I've just found a new warning light, it's come on under the fuel gauge and flashes red. It's shaped like a spark plug with a shower type spray from one end.

The climate control is no longer chilled & temperature gauge is just verging on the red zone.

I'm not sure if this is an urgent problem or whether it can wait until I get home to check the book, it's only just happened - it was fine an hour ago & it's not long back from the garage.

Is this just a case of re-gassing the a/c or is it a coolant issue or worse ???

is that not the engine management light which comes on for a couple of seconds when you start it then goes out if all is well?

Re: Re: New warning light ???

I'm not sure, it's on the far left of the dash under the fuel gauge.

Um, something is very wrong with your car. The light means the ECU has found a fault and the temp guage should not be that high!

Get it looked at NOW.

Re: Re: New warning light ???

Bllx – I thought as much, flashing red lights normally aren't anything good.

I'll have a proper look at it in a bit once it's cooled down – I think it's likely to be another garage job though.

Cheers.

Re: Re: Re: New warning light ???

To stop this light from appearing:

1.Take out dash
2.Remove bulb behind it.
3.Re-install dash.

Problem solved, lol

It's not a new light, it has been there since the car was built (sorry chucked together, it is a Fiat!)

Seriously, hope it's not an expensive fault!!

Mark.

Re: Re: New warning light ???

Wimmy – Can I replace it with a pound coin holder like you've got ? lol

Sabre23 – Cheers, gotta see the funny side I s'pose.

Yes, it is engine management light - between the key code & battery lights. Also coolant is a lot lower than it was @ w/end.

I had the garage I bought it from check the system for leaks when it was in for cambelts in July/Aug. They couldn't find a leak & blew the rad when they did a pressure test - they did replace it FoC though.

Anyone know a decent garage south coast / Hampshire ?

Re: Re: New warning light ???

Oh dear - I cant even blag that this one is a potentiometer issue as I have sold my new unfitted pot back to Fiat!!

Re: Re: New warning light ???

I've had a play with it & I think there might be air in the system – does anyone know how I can get this out or how it got in the 1st place?

Could it be dodgy work on the rad replacement ? - Not from a Fiat dealer surely, lol.
