New tyres: to the front or the back?

Sorry if this is a dumb question: I need new tyres for my Multipla but I only want to buy a pair and then keep the best two of the rest.

Should the new tyres go to the front or the back? Is this dependent on the make of car? Some tyre guys would say the front and some the back ....

front, its easier to correct oversteer than understeer.

But tbh, it doesnt really matter that much as i dont think you are going to be ragging a multipla round

I was always taught to replace the rears - you can control the fronts with that big round thing in front of you. I'm not sure how valid that is these days though.
