anyway, away from the no-brain sloganising, they are actually proposing a review of every current speed camera with a view to removing some and lowering the speed limit to 20 mph around schools and hospitals etc and raising it to 80 on motorways

it never ceases to amaze me how oppositions have all the best ideas

That's right, there is always some green liberal muppet around the corner to block it saying our roads will turn into blood baths if people drove at 80mph (which i'm sure we all do anyway). These are always the people who drive cars which aren't safe at those speeds, but modern cars are perfectly safe cruising at 80 or 90 mph so long as everyone drives sensibly. I'd be interested to compare the safety records of our motorways and the autobahns, i bet there would be bugger all difference, it's not speed thats the problem it's bad drivers.

hmmm its crazy i remember a few months back i was talking about this u all gave me **** and look faster driving conditions but slower in built up areas. i rest my case. i think i will become priminister

It would not make an ounce of difference even if it did go through...

1) They will review speed camera locations - well as there currently has to be a certain number of accidents and injuries for a camera to go up, then none will come down as they're all justified.
2) They will up the limit to 80 on the motorway, it already is, isn't it ? no really it is... the official limit it 70 but to be honest it's enforced at 80+ isn't it... so the Tories would up it to 80 and enforce it the same as before.

See ? nothing changes apart from the colour of the tie !

Did you know that if you lose your license in ireland or scotland you can still drive in england and the other ways round? I didn't until i was chatting to a lorry driver delivering something at work from ireland who lost his license in scotland for drink driving or overdoing his hours or something but could still drive in england and ireland.
