Hi syleug and welcome. I'm happy for you to hear of the MOT pass. We've had Pandas and a Punto in the family for many many years and have had to put up with all the old jokes - like "what does FIAT stand for?" Fix It Again Tony - but the truth is they are generally reliable and, when things do go wrong, easy to fix. The older cars were pretty bad for rust (our 1992 Panda Parade taught me all about that) but newer cars, for instance our 2010 Panda and my boy's 2012 Punto are just as good as any other mass produced vehicle and better than some I can think of. The smaller engined variants are also very cheap to insure and you can buy spares economically from local factors just about anywhere. (Although I would recommend looking at the Shop4parts website - and no I don't have any connection with them aside from being a satisfied customer!
There is a great wealth of knowledge on our forum and if something goes wrong you can bet someone on here will have had it before you. Also, if you decide to get really deeply involved there is Multiecuscan which is a PC based diagnostic program for Italian cars (Alfa and Fiat mainly) you can load into your laptop. It's a very powerful tool at an extremely good price. and I bet there are many enthusiasts of other makes who wish such a thing was available to them (of course Volkswagen Group Products are served by VCDS but other makes are not so fortunate)
By the way, which model do you have and which engine?
