Can anyone tell me when a Stilo is due it's first service? I'm going to France soon after taking delivery, and don't want to miss that all important first service.[?]

I believe it's after 12 months or 12,000 miles. Whichever comes first..

I think that you should take as reference point the miles you have done rather than the days. The car does not age by the days, it ages by the distance that it covers.

Thanks. I may be giving my age away here...but I was thinking of the time when new cars had their first service at around 500 miles. They had special oil in which aided the running in, but needed changing at 500 miles or so. I guess they don't do that these days. Modern cars eh...wonderful.
Yes the Ford Model T was special in that way

The car needs to be services @ 12,000 miles or within 1 year as said before which ever comes first.
The first service is only a oil change etc.

In any case, I do not thinkt hat you will cover those all important 12000 miles in your trip to France. I guess that you should just take it easy on your car do not push it too much and change the oils as soon as you get back as a precaution. It will defenitellly not hurt your car if you do so!
and just a question for Darrel. Why would you take your car for a major service if it has not covered the first 12000 mies? Where is the point on that? I guess that FIAT has added this feature to its SERICE COUNTER just to give a feel of how many days are left on the basis of the average mileage covered by the average car in an average year! It is just an average estimation! I do not think that you should count the days! Count the miles!

If you read your warranty booklet it tells you within 12,000 miles or within the first year.
Just following Fiats terms.
But you are correct whats the point! Should only be miles only.
My father in-law has only covered 8000 miles within the first year but still needed it to be serviced.

Yippee, I'm picking up my car tomorrow, just a week late. The car was "In The System" and not one that I chose and ordered so to speak, so I thought it would be on time (silly me).
Anyway, thanks for the info about servicing, I'm sure I'll only do about 1000 on my trip, so no worries.
About the miles/times thing: I belive that the oil and maybe other things degrade over time, even when not in use, hence the need to have your car serviced at yearly intervals regardless of miles covered. I'm sure there'd be no harm in waiting two years, but there is an issue with oil degrading over time.
