Not sure if you were being serious, but if you are, a little tippette if I may. The mk1 Punto Sportings are mainly dead or dying, with most thrashed for years. If you find a good one it won't be cheap & it would be a shame to break a good one. Having been through the same thing, I found a mk1 Punto 85ELX which turns out to be perfect. They have exactly the same engine but as a 5 door family mobile they won't have been thrashed & crashed - mine had 50 odd thousand on the clock family owned from new and the bodywork past its best from London driving & school runs - goes like a rocket and I seriously doubt I would have found a nicer one from a Sporting even if I'd tripled the £350 engine budget. Just a thought! (y)

hi mate,
yeah iknow what you mean about the mk1 sportings, they do get thrashed,
but ijust want one for engine/loom ecu
ive rebuilt a few 16valve engines so im familiar with them,
id use the engine out of mk2 but theres too much electrics to work with,

Yes that's why we wanted a mk1. If you find a nice 85ELX you probably won't need to rebuild it (and it will be cheaper than a knackered Sporting probably). (y)

There are plenty of threads about the engine conversions if you need help. Vernon has just finished the same conversion for me too. :)

Thanks, (y)

which fiat had the 16valve engine in with Dizzy and carb? anyone know?
i seen one on you-tube awhile back -bare engine up and running on the deck
or at least hoist, but it didnt mention what fiat it came out of,

google dont bring up anything

As far as I'm aware 16V will not run under carb, just 8 valves which will not produces same amount of power and mpg will be much worse. My 999cc carbed result of 44mpg compared with Palio's result of 48mpg from recent scottish run give you clear view.

I can't think of a 16v which isn't injected. You'd be looking pre cat as the new emissions legislation effectively forced fuel injection onto all the remaining Fiat engines in 1992. You'd be looking at Tipo's/Strada's/Mirafiori's etc, and I think they were 8v.

Blimey. You're cracking on quickly with this one!! Gonna come down to Stanford hall?

Yes if im allowed, :)

just got, a few lights to sort, (rear brake light iffy)
wing mirror,
replace brake pads/discs -make up new brakepipes and replace,

oil change/filters plugs /leads, send wheel in to be repaired..

its been easy to work with, :)
