Hi,
I just wanted to say hello and thank you for all for posting so much good stuff in this forum. I have owned a 99 Seicento Sporting since May '08 and have had lots of fun working on it. It was in pretty poor condition when I bought it, with 7 previous owners - ouch! (I traded down from a Peugeot 407SW diesel in a pre-emptive strike against the impending economic crisis).
Since I bought it, I have..
(1) Re-painted alloy wheels (using Hammerite and clear lacquer) - they look great and have survived the winter in-tact
(2) Fixed leaky sunroof (thanks to guide on here)
(3) Replaced radiator (used workshop-on-cd)
(4) Cylinder head gasket - "easy" thanks to levemir's guide
(5) Complete rear axle swap (an "easy" way to replace knocking bushes and tart-up what was a very rusty looking part of the car without taking it off the road for more than 1 day)
(6) New sump (old one probably O.K. but I did it during cylinder head job)
(7) Made new rear "door" cards for 6" x 9" speakers from 12mm ply = lovely sound!
After all that you'd think I would of had enough? No! I've just bagged myself a 75 MPI engine\gearbox complete with ECU, fuel pump, keys and locks. I'm now trying to decide on a complete SPI to MPI engine swap or a mix and match 75 block & cam with 1108 head. I would like to fit a 4-2-1 exhaust too.
I am also speccing out Panda 4x4 \ Sport vented brake callipers and 14" wheels (if the calliper won't fit inside 13" wheel). Apart from wheels, I don't want to alter the outside appearance of the car.
Finally, a question... Can anyone recommend an insurance company for the engine mods? (I'm 43 years young and possibly going through a mid-life crisis with all this car tinkering!).
Thanks everyone,
Ruddy
