General New key needed for my 500C

Hi, could anyone advice me on hows the best way to get a new spare key for my Fiat (61 plate) 500c please? Do I have to go through main dealer? Or is there a cheaper way?

Hi which key do you need/want the remote fob or the standard manual spare key. Neither is cheap but a new remote fob is expensive.

Some months ago my wife's 500C remote key was stolen. She'd gone shopping with a friend and it was taken from her pocket. Fortunately they'd gone there in the friend's car so the thief didn't get the FIAT. FIAT dealer wanted about $600 for a replacement (and several weeks for delivery!) but, as she was planning to trade the car in the near future, we found a reputable locksmiths who supplied, cut and coded a new 'manual' key for about $120 - roughly £65.

She lost the convenience of the remote locking of course...

typecastboy has used 2 mobile locksmiths. He'll explain procedure.

I’ve had keys done when I’ve had a car with no keys whatsoever. I pay £150 to read code, supply and program a remote key and £80 for a non remote key. Look for a mobile auto locksmith. Ask for reccomendations on local Facebook groups.

May one ask if it is the key blade or the fob that is the problem ? I got a new blade cut at my local Timpsons .

If you still have the 1 key that still drives the car..

Take the car to a local key cutters

A basic new key cut and coded to the car could be £50

If you're in the Bristol area try Express Key in Kingswood. 07976974053. I got spares cut for both my daughter's 500s for a lot less than dealers (and timpsons)

In that case, why not just buy a replacement shell? These are amusingly cheap.

Really quite easy, it's a cover shell, the remote body you don't touch, it's easy to see on the new one, buttons pull out and press back in

This is our 12 year old remote you can see what a difference it can make to a tired remote, my only wish would be a new Fiat logo

We charge £55 for A none remote key and £150 for A remote key for these.
We can re-case with a new blade for around £30
