Just bought a new Kenwood unit for my GP. Got the Fiat unit out no probs. Trying to put the new one is a whole different kettle of fish! I'm guessing I'm going to have change the red and yellow wires in the ISO like i did in my 206? Am I right in saying that I need an aerial adapter as well?

Do you think that it would be better to get an audio specialist to fit it or could I do to myself if I have the time?

hi Steve, its going into a Grande Punto Active 2006, ive got a new fascia plate and sort of fits. Just needs securing properly. its getting the thing to power up which is the main thing as I've booked it to the audio specialists in bradford who know what to do but i don't really want to spend a whole afternoon waiting for it to get fit. the unit itself is a Kenwood KDC-BT40U if that helps. cheers, Alex

Ok cool, if my memory serves me correctly, this car uses proper CANBUS technology so will probably also need a wiring harness adapter....it is possible to switch the wires round, but the likelyhood is that due to the fact that the CANBUS system uses single wires to send multiple signals, you will find that you're electric windows will go nuts or lights, speedo etc won't work. You will definatelt need an aerial adapter too. A free solution to find out if your car will need a wiring adapter is to go into a local halfords and ask the 'in car technology' guy if he could just come and look at the car to see what you would need to fit it. That way you will be able to find out if you can get away with switching the wires. The great thing about going into a store is that they can check the vehicle database to give you a definate answer. Also you will be able to buy any adapters you might need. You never know, you might leave their car park with your stereo fitted! Hope this helps, and sorry i cannot be more definative. Steve(y)

There is no need for the Canbus wire, that can just cause problems. Normally you just unplug the red wire and plug it into the spare yellow. They should be on bullet connectors.

I have said this about 5 times this week lol. Ill let you off as its the first time we have spoken :p
Next time have a search around using search. Once you get used to the key words to use you will find pretty much every problem like this has been covered extensively (y)

cheers, I've got it booked in with the Audio Specialist in Bradford so let them mess with it, haven't had a choice really to do it properly
