Grande Punto New Grande Punto.

Introduction

Bought my new car Wednesday, love it! Was going to go for C2 VTS, though my mind soon changed the second I sat in it.

Does anybody have any ideas as to what I can do with regards to tints etc?

I want to avoid the chavy look (like my old corsa) but do want to modfy it.

Black mirrors? How dark should I get tints? Any ideas would be great! :D

Well after thinking my top mounts needed replacing, I've had them looked at and they're fine. The guy also checked, CV, wish bones, drop links, springs, suspension arms just everything. He said he cannot find any source of knocking or anything. He's been in the trade 20 years so can't really see him missing anything, and he had the car for 3 hours :( not sure what else it could be?

Car is now on H&R springs.

Much comfier, although I do prefer the coils visually.

After just one year though, one shock had lost its 'shock' and didn't return to the original position:

The pulling on my car was from a flat tyre, which happened exactly as I had my suspension change, which is why I didn't check for it :(

sorted now though, despite shredding my inside of my tyre.

Still looks really well to be honest mate.
Did you get the tracking done as well?
What about rear shocks? Cut the bump stops down and done?

Tracking not done yet mate. New tyre cost me £50 so will get it done ASAP. I want the 4 wheel laser alignment done again I think.

Oh the rear shocks. What a joke mate. basically, the mechanic had tried to put the top shock bolt on with an air tool, and as a result, shredded the thread. He obviously thought "sh!t", and made up an excuse why he didn't change them. Nothing wrong with them, they fit perfect after Matty donated one of his mjet shocks.

Looking good and will be a better ride than the coil overs especially on all this speed bumps near you haha

it's still bumpy, but nothing like the coils. The car cruises over bumps rather than crashes into them, if that makes sense. I prefer it lower, but the handling is amazing now. Which makes me think:

How could I improve handling further if I wanted to?

look sweet dude! i'm 17 and getting a punto in the next couple of weeks.. what do you think i should do to modify it so it looks awesome??

fancy getting it a paint-job :D :D

Cheers man!!!

Look around on here mate. Tons and tons on here to look at.

The fact is though, some mods will have the opposite effect. Think about what you're doing, don't just modify everything in sight when it doesn't need it. E.g. MASSIVE sun strip, peeling tints, **** wheels.

I've done it before - can ruin a car instantly.

The FIRST thing I would do, and I am confident most of the forum will back me up, is get it lowered. However this may be an issue with you being 17 - insurance don't like mods.

Other than that, have a look through my thread too, i've done a few things here and there bud :)

Get some pics on when you get it!

MOT passed. Serviced. No problem.

Although I had a big argument about paying £10 for them to change my sidelights. NO, ill do them myself you massive willys. "But we're not a charity you know", NEITHER AM I!!

Also, they wanted the courtesy car filled up so that the distance measure read '40 miles'. How the **** can you do that? Putting like 0.75p of fuel in? I only drove it for 2 miles. I didn't pay for that either. Why not just fill the tank up, and ill fill it up again. Simples.

Around 1PM today the Grande will be going. It will be replaced with a diamond white mk2 focus ST.

For anyone that didn't see my post in the leisure lounge, I just wanted to thank everyone for all the advice and support over the past 3 years.

I know it's only a car, but the community going on here is excellent and has made owning a fiat much more than just that! Infact, I was almost contemplating looking at abarth just to stay with the forum, but my heart's set on the focus.

To be honest, without the forum, I wouldn't have some of the mates I do now. It was purely because of this I met them.

Will still be knocking around, just thought I'd say thank you :)

Sam

EDIT: think there's a couple of sets of standard springs I need to sell. And there's some team heko wind deflectors in perfect condition.

Good luck with the focus mate! Hope the Ford community is just as nice :)
