Grande Punto New Grande Punto.

Introduction

Bought my new car Wednesday, love it! Was going to go for C2 VTS, though my mind soon changed the second I sat in it.

Does anybody have any ideas as to what I can do with regards to tints etc?

I want to avoid the chavy look (like my old corsa) but do want to modfy it.

Black mirrors? How dark should I get tints? Any ideas would be great! :D

Could well be the top mounts, the above was just a rant tbh. Only started in past few days. Slow driving, and from start.

Sounds like them. I understand your frustration though!
Sounds almost like a spring being twanged?
Thats effectively whats happening, the spring turns in the cup making the noise.

That's exactly it! Thanks mate! Need to look into it

Sounds like a bust bed?......

Start car get mate to slowly turn steering wheel whilst you touch the spring (mind your fingers don't get trapped)

The bad top mount will cause the spring to jump and you will feel it.....

Wow!!!

My normal spray guy is booked until February 2014, so i went looking elsewhere. Got my first quote yesterday:

£200 per bumper + Labour @ around £50.

WTF :O

My usual local guy wanted £130 for rear, front bumper, and side skirts! Some might say you pay for what you get, but I know my local guy well and I have seen some of his work. He is an absolute perfectionist.

How can anyone justify such a massive difference in price!

Holograms and swirls or basically really small scratches in the clear coat which can be removed by machine polishing it correctly.

I had it machine polished towards the start of this year, hence it must have been me causing these. Any idea how they're caused? Is it technique?

Jordan.

Is the lacquer fully intact mate and do you wax/polish by hand or machine?

Wax and polish by hand mate.

Have you buffed all the wax residue off?

I thoguht I had, could this just be left over wax? didn't seem to fade when rubbing it. Same happens with my windows after glass polish. Reckon im not removing it properly?

I know it sounds abit much but do you use the same cloths/applicators/buffing cloth? I know I use a different one for each panel :)

Regards
Stephen

I am ware of doing that to prevent scratches etc, but with all my swirls I don't bother mate. So no, just the one cloth for the car. Different ones for applicating, one for buffing.

holograms can be but in by hand to if you press hard enough ;) to see it its the wax or polish go over a part with Autoglym Tar remover it will remove the wax and polish you will then be able to see if that is the problem. but dont forget to re-polish and wax after to protect your paint.

I agree with Jordan I suggested the claying to get rid of any deep/sealed over contaminants :D
