Grande Punto New Grande Punto.

Introduction

Bought my new car Wednesday, love it! Was going to go for C2 VTS, though my mind soon changed the second I sat in it.

Does anybody have any ideas as to what I can do with regards to tints etc?

I want to avoid the chavy look (like my old corsa) but do want to modfy it.

Black mirrors? How dark should I get tints? Any ideas would be great! :D

Why are there gaps all over the GP?

E.g. there is gap between my fogs and the bumper plastic, uneven I might add. Also, I can fit my fingers behind the boot on the left, when shut, however the right is more flush. The rear bumper seems to sit just mm lower than the wheel arch leaving a tiny bit sticking out. Why is nothing bang on? Has someone had the bumpers off before me or something

Apart from my front bumper that I still need to mount properly mines all aleigned, Have you had a bump?
the bumpers flex and move with vibrations. possible that the previous owner has had it in a garage and they have had them off...
just loosen the bolts and re-aliegn :)

There's a small scrape on the front bumper that was there before I bought it.

But its the actual tailgate, if you were to stand behind the car as if you were hugging it, I can get my fingers in behind the boot on the left, whilst the right it flush against the car when the boot is shut.

Ill get some pics later :)

What do you do with the back of your car? :spin:

I agree mate. The headlights aren't flush with the bodywork around it, same with the rear bumper and the rear spoiler.

Just want it to be perfect but it's never gonna happen lol.

Even after polishing yesterday, there were like shimmers that looked like I could buff them off, but it was actually the surface scratches against the sun.

Not to mention:

Bonnet is absolutely rammed with chips.
Bumpers look albino next to the body.
Handles peeling again
Vinyled pillars are ****ed and are ripping off.
Vinyl behind reg plate is wonky
Splitter was bodged and is too small.
It's low but not low enough.
Something is snapped and is rattling like hell under my exhaust.
There's some plastic bag stuck round my exhaust which burns everytime I drive and smells like ****.
Random knocks on suspension
Squeaking going down bumpy roads, from the suspension.
Brakes feel like they've got stones stuck in them
Drums/calipers paint peeling.
Rear light needs new bulbs.

Sure there's more!! :( Right moaner I am today

LOL. Just get the bus?!

My rubber seals are a mess, especially the little triangle window on the A pillar. All the plastic is faded. Little stone chips everywhere. The plastic guards in the rear wheel arches stick out past the bodywork.

But I still love it. It's like the child who always lets you down but it smiles back at you once and all is forgiven.

Try not to focus on the imperfections mate, it's like a marriage. :)

EDIT: Except with love, care and affection. No loathing. In fact it isn't anything like a marriage at all!

I have all those problems too. My back doors are also hard to open, much harder than the front ones. They also squeak on hot days (only my back doors).

About that wet metal, I am almost certain that it is brake fluid for the clutch (they share the same reservoir).

Check where the air filter intake box meets the intake too. I noticed a couple of days back that it was also wet. I think it is because I like to rev it hard (I drive fairly fast and its only a 1.4 8v with 77 hp) and the air box has a connection for an oil breather hose, so im guessing that on hard accelerations the oil rises through the hose. I have the same problem on a vw buggy im building

Greetings from chile!

Thanks for all the replies! I couldn't thank you all as thanks can't be given in this section.

I will atr those links Andy and magic johnson :)

Just something else, I had a plastic bin liner stuck round my exhaust which was burning and melting obviously, a week later after removing it, it still stinks? I thought it would have gone by now :( hope there's no damage.

On a side, @TangoMachine91 brakes failed the other day - hoping theyre fixed for MITcar
