I have come across a new gimmick today don’t know if anyone else has come across this, if you press the unlock button twice on your remote control it opens all the electric windows will be great in summer to cool the car down whilst you load the boot. Also when you lock the car it closes all the windows again.

i bet you had the fright of your life when you accidentally pressed it the second time and all the windows opened!

Something to add, For those who have the triple sunroof, when you lock the car with the sunroof opened it will also automatically close to the sunroof to the vented position. Why only the vented position only the designer knows... my own reasoning is for summer, to help the ventilation of the hot air from inside the car. By the way for the electric windows to opens it must be press within 5 sec of the first.

Hi,

If you look at the Eurovan website it tells you how to select which windows open when you press the remote control, i.e you could set it to only open the front windows etc. You can also program the mirrors not to fold if you prefer.

Hi,

Not sure if anyone tried this yet, but if you hold down the 'door lock' button [in roof console], you get 'automatic door locking now activated'. As you drive off, doors all lock.

Not that useful I suppose; would prefer them to be open at speed, but lock as you slow down for junctions/traffic lights. Anyone else played with this yet?

Stuart

Do you want it unlocked at speed in case of an accident or are you trying to get rid of someone? Central locking should normally unlock in the case of an impact.

I like the feature of the door locking. I've used it on my Stilo from day 1.

Hi - I like the choice word 'normally', especially with some rogue Fiats out there [yours, Froggys!]. But yes, I suppose it is psychological - would rather know doors are openable [imagine being underwater, etc. and yes, I have seen the Top Gear situation], than locked and being stuck!!!!

I also don't have sunroofs to get rid of someone; not that ejector seats are an option - YET!!

Hi,

In most cars the hazard lights come on, the doors open and the interior lights come on when you have an accident.

Hi,

I realise that is what supposed to happen; but then again most of us go to bed at night and expect all our windows on the car still to be closed in the morning. Lol....

Hi,

I am going off my Ulysse now due to a number of quality problems. The BMW dealer called today to update his database and see if I still had the 5 series. I was pretty tempted to ask if he would be interested in the Ulysse as a part exchange for another BMW.

Still I may not have to worry as the windows open themselves to help the car thieves. Not sure how the insurance companies will deal with this problem.

Hi,

Now I really want to get rid of it, the auto gearbox has been a pain in the backside today. It gets stuck in gear, then stays in a gear too long.

I was tempted to torch it today !!!!!!!.

Is that BMW call beckoning!

One thought I had recently [don't laugh] - I have had no problems at all with my windows, BUT I am the only one WITHOUT electric doors option :( [spent £500 on nearly half of Nav +]. Anyone reckon this is linked????

Stuart

No - I have pretty much every electric extra option going apart form the DVD, the brighter headlights, and the headlight washers. I have the condensation issue with the VIN in the windscreen, but apart from a minor mechanical issue that is causing an annoying squeak when I corner (turning left only?), I have nothing else wrong - doors and windows all working as expected, and if I ignore the squeak, the car is quite a pleasure to drive.

John

I don't know if I'm tempting fate but I also have no real problems with the car. I have not checked for the condensation yet. Mine was a November build so maybe a lot of the problems highlighted here had been ironed out. I tried out the Automatic Door locking last night and it worked a treat. I am also a bit concerned about using this at high speed, then again with all these extra gimmicks we keep coming across maybe if it ended up in the water it might turn into an amphibious vehicle!!!

Now there's a thought - an upside to it all; sod the Dartford tunnel/bridge.....

Wonder what directions it would give? Turn into estuary now, straight on past the ducks.......

Stuart

Poggy,

I had to do an emergency stop the other day.. and the hazards came on automatically. Clever, except I didnt realise straight away and was thinking, whats that ticking noise?

froggy

Hi - welcome to Brake Assist!!!!!

They go off automatically as you drive off, or you can over-ride it by pressing the hazard switch.

Stu

PS Did you miss that darned dog? :D

Another gimmick that you may or may not realise...

...if you press the lock button on remote, and car already locked, it flashes its hazards lights and internal lights come on - I presume you can do this in car parks, etc, to help you find it; the doors don't pop open.
