.....There is a knocking noise when i turn sharply to the right coming from the driver's side!

Before I take it back tommorrow, do any of you guys know what it could be? It defo was not there before they fitted new tires!

I've checked all nuts and they're on tight!

Could they have not put the wheel back on correctly?

Check the bolts. I know it sounds ridiculous, but check them anyway.

LOL. I obviously didn't read your post.

I'm going to bed before I make a huge fool of myself ;)

Its possible, but did the old tire have marks of getting used on one edge of the tire more that the rest of it ?

It can be your wishbone or rod end, now that the tires are new and have more grip, they pull it out.

That's why I changed them, both were going bold on the inside edge!

I got the tracking done when my MOT was done but they never mentioned anything about the track rod end or the wishbone!

Well if they where going bald, they either had bad tracking, wishbone ball joint has space in it, or the rod end has space in it.
Get it checked IMO, or you will end up with the new tires eaten also

Is it safe to drive???

As I have to travel 400 miles this weekend! :(

I'm taking it into the garage tommorrow morning to have a look.

Think it is, hard to tell this way, but if only the wishbone or rod have some play in it then yes. But the tires may get used on the sides again, not to there end, but a bit

knocking and tyre wear does seem to indicate a knackered ball-joint(s), and therefore new wishbones. Its an hour abour to replace each one, plus the parts are about £30 each. I'd advise getting it done before you go on a long journey. you'll just start to wear the tyres, and it is potentialy dangerous...

Hopefully I can get them done tommorrow or friday, as long as the parts are available from the motor factors!

Thanks for the help guys!

i think thats the one m8, best get some more OKs first before u order it tho

OR THIS ONE??

I think this one's a track rod end!

The first one is a suspension arm I think!(Is this the same as the wishbone?)

suspension arm = wish bone, same thing different name
the second one may also have some play in it, but its better to check what's wrong first

at least I'm on the right track! (excuse the pun)

I will wait and see what the mechanic says.

And i would recomend changing both sides at the same time even if the other side is ok, cause they new parts have a stronger resistence to pressures than old, and replacing both sides gives an even balance, that goes for trackrod ends aswell.

The mechanic might say you dont have to,but i would recomend it.

and dont go into the mechanic and say, i think that this and this mite b wrong, cos even if it isnt wrong he knows you think it mite b broken, so will just tell u it is, and then take ur money!!!

thanks.

the mechanic is a good friend, although I will have to pay the going rate, he would never lie to me!
