New Fiat Croma, official pictures!!!

all the new fiats are looking lovely

now all we need is a new punto that looks like a mini stilo! (wasnt there an offical photoshop of the mk3 punto a while back?) :D although i really like the mk2.5 front

TBH i think the panda should have been a car on its own and not a replacemen for the sei/cinq. They are completly different types of cars!

what we should of had was a MK3 cento and given it a more uptodate front end and maybe some wider arches (kinda like cinq arches on a sei) and so on... kinda like this, front end :p

Apparently, the new Punto will look quite Stilo-ish especially at the back end with the front end having elements of the Maserati Quatroportte....very nice...if you scroll back through the news items on www.italiaspeed.com you'll find pics of it.

the one with the maser v8 was dedicated to the great Gianni Agnelli (Godfather) of Fiat.
Would buy it if I had money and if it was for sale

I want that one!!!

And anyway, fiat have a history of 'look-a-like' big cars the last croma looked just like a Saab 9000 (cause it was the same car) but didn't look like the 164 (which it was too, strange....) and then there was the Renault 25 which I can't remember if it was the same car or just looked like the same car... Oh yeah and then there was that Lanica thing (Thema?) that looked like the saab with a boot....

And they stuck a massive posh engine from else where in the Fiat empire in it too.

Just a little bit of history repeating......

Strange isn't it. I have noticed though over recent years, estate cars from all manufacturers are getting smaller and smaller. EVEN VOLVOS ARE!!!

So are we looking at the estate version or the hatch version? It doesnt seem quite big enough to be the estate, but its profile screems estate.

What an absolute beauty, with the power to destroy too.......(y)

Have to disagree that in my view the old (or is it now Mk 1 ?) Croma looked like the Saab 9000. To me they were completely different animals in looks and performance/handling. The 'Gang of four' cars (the common term for them) were the Fiat Croma (1985), Lancia Thema (1984), Saab 9000 (1984) & the Alfa 164 (1987). All four shared the same floorpan, but the Saab, Fiat & Lancia also shared the doors and the inner wings.

The Saab, Fiat & Lancia were all designed by Giorgetto Guigaro, who has also designed the new Croma, whereas the 164 design was left to Pininfarina.

I have regular access to my Mum's 9000 as a workhorse.

It is nothing like a Croma, and certainly nothing like a Renault 25, although she did have its predecessor the Renault 20 (which was an underated fantastic car from the time when Renaults were good.....) hers was a 1983 TS 2 litre, before a Panda 750L came her way :).

Anyway before I go off at a tangent, the 'Gang of Four' were completely different cars in handling and performance, & you would never know they were from the same stock.

Many cars today share the same components and it is said they are the same car, but it is not that cut and dried. There are many differences.

Mind you, the 'Gang of Four' all take ages to fill up at the pump, especially if it's a Jet or Tesco station.....:D

but I think in the 80's shared floorplans seemed to give cars many more 'fixed points' that made them look more alike (door shape, windscreen angle etc) that the more flexable production we have today.

Like the Kangoo I drive (when the panda is in the garage  ) has a lot in common with small renault hatchbacks but the only way you could see this is if you park your clio in the hall of mirrors at the funfair, hehe
