Does anyone know of a heavier, stronger, performance clutch I can get my local motor factors dont know of any. It has always been a bit strange since I got the car 20,000 mile since (a bit juddery pulling away.) Anyway I thought as its now slipping if I give it the welly I would see if there was a better clutch to put in.

You may be able to get a competition clutch that fits, try the AP website. or try one of the racing specialists once you have the part number of the standard one. My advice would be for road use, dont, it will be heavy and fierce.

Loooooooook closely to my post and you will seeeeeeeeeeee witch car it will be Marea for Marea section and Stilo for Stilo section lol

good point :p

on the 2.4 JTD the most common upgrade (with the alfisti) is a solid lightened flywheel and the addition of an uprated clutch plate. this is a long term solution to the premature clutch slip and DMF failure associated with remapped 2.4JTDs.

it seems most people go to a 'specialist' and pay approx £1000 for the parts suplied and fitted, so there is a lack of information about where to get these parts and which brands are available. CG Motorsport is the most commonly mentioned supplier for a clutch. dragon performance do a kevlar clutch and solid flywheel kit.

personally i think a decent quality standard clutch will be fine (EBC). plenty of people have had years of reliable use from a standard clutch even on 200bhp 20v models.

the flywheel issue is different, i think it is worthwhile upgrading to the solid flywheel. the DMF's seem to be problematic, and expensive, so fitting a solid flywheel at the same time as a new clutch is a good way to ensure long term reliability (and it pulls better too)

Hi all,
My 01 plate Marea Weekend 1.9 JTD is rapidly approaching 60000 miles and the clutch has started to slip.
Last summer I had the ECU remapped by Angel Tuning and this may be the catalyst to the clutch slip.
Advice for a replacement clutch would be appreciated. The car is used for daily commuting (upto 50 miles a day).
I would consider an uprated clutch.
I'd also like a bit more ooomph from the Marea; so far I have fitted a set of DOTZ alloys, K&N panel filter, and ECU remap by Angel Tuning (getting about 145 bhp I think, and tons of torque!).
All advice appreciated.

Ian
