Technical New and in need of help

I have a 8 week old 06 Punto Active (my 3rd punto) which has spent the last week in the fiat dealership with starting problems.

When starting the car the engine was turning and sounded like it had caught then just died, the only way to get it started was by touching the accelerator (which I know you aren't meant to do) when I did this it spluttered into life with a cloud of smoke from the exhaust and the heat guage shot up to high, warning light came on then went back down, This problem was intermittend but before it went into the garage had done it 3 times in 4 days!!! The garage has had a new starter motor on order for 1 week!!!!!! but still doesn't appear to arrived.:bang:

Has anyone had similar problems.

You have to give them a chance to fix the fault first. Keep a log of everything that is happening and if you aren't getting satisfaction from the dealer contact Fiat Customer Service.

Starter motor is drawing too much current,dealer has ordered a replacement so not much else they/or anybody here can do until it arrives.

but if i bought a new car and it was in the garage all the time i wouldn't be happy, i'd expect a hire car at least...
